BOOK YOUR SESSION ONLINE NOW

WHAT TO EXPECT

After you book you will receive a confirmation email regarding the details of your booking, in addition information on how to prepare. This will usually be with you within a couple of hours of your booking, though it may be longer on evenings and weekends.

It’s best to have a consultation meeting before the shoot to discuss everything, so that you are fully informed about all aspects of the session. This can be conducted over the phone, via a Zoom meeting.

If you are unsure of what top to wear, bring three or four options so we can decide which is best before starting. My ‘What to wear for Headshots guide’ that you will receive via email will also help you decide what is right.

DURING THE SHOOT

I will greet you as soon as you walk in the door and you will be helped with your clothing to be hung and organised. I will be all yours as we collaborate together through out the session. I would like to know how you will be using your headshots and what “looks” you would like to achieve.

We will then take a look at the clothing you brought and make some choices about what will look best. I love to work a wide range of “looks” in my headshot sessions. We’ll discuss different hairstyles and what clothes suit you best.

Once the makeup is done, and the first outfit is on, we will get you in front of the camera for a quick light test. Every face is different so I adjust my lighting accordingly.I shoot all of my headshot sessions tethered, so we’ll see immediately how everything is looking.

POSING

Each face I photograph is unique, and so is yours. We will sit down together and figure out which side is your ‘good side’ and I have a bunch of cool tips and tricks up my sleeve to reduce that double chin you’ve always hated, no photoshop needed. I’ll teach you about body language and how you can use specific techniques to your advantage.

EXPRESSION

The expression is one of the essential parts of your Headshots. We will spend the majority of our session, making sure you convey a warm, confident and approachable personality. It’s the subtle things that make a difference, it’s how we make a headshot go from mediocre to spectacular.

Together we make sure to create headshots that set you apart from your competition.

IMAGE SELECTION

It’s an absolute pain in the butt to judge your images from the back of the camera on a tiny 3-inch screen. Which is why I use a technique called ‘shooting tethered’ that allows for complete transparency. During the session we’ll be able to review the images together as we go.

During the session, I will shoot as many different looks as possible in the time allowed in order to give you a range of images to choose from that will suit your needs.  I like to review the images on my monitor as we go so that I can coach you and give you tips and tricks that will help you to look amazing in your Headshots. By editing as we go, we can see which angles you look your best so that you will be more exuberant  in front of the camera.

This process allows you total control over the outcome of your pictures. There will be no surprises. Each and everyone of my client leaves my studio with satisfaction guaranteed.

EDITING AND RETOUCHING

At the end of the session we will go through and choose the images that you would like to purchase. If you can’t make a decision immediately, I will set up a password protected online proofing gallery so you can take time in the comfort of your home and review all of your images. Email or text me once you have made your final decision.

I will personally edit and retouch your chosen images to the standard you can see in my headshots gallery. Images will be edited to give a pleasing colour balance that is correct on my computer screen, with pre-discussed blemish removal carried out to a level that I feel is appropriate. If you would like any additional retouching after delivery, this would be charged at £30 per image.

MY STYLE

I like to shoot in a style that produces excellent, eye-catching headshots that will get you noticed. If you would like your headshots taken in the studio in a particular style or you would like to try some on Location (depending on the weather) please mention this before your session. I will be honest with you. If a look is not working on screen, I will ask you to change the make-up, hair style, or clothing that you wear depending on what needs to change. This is my professional way of working so that you benefit from the time and be totally satisfied with your session.

WHAT TO WEAR

Plain clothing in natural colours, pale colours, or dark shades work best. See our ‘What to Wear Guide’ that you’ll receive. Bold patterned, logos, large prints on t-shirts, or stripes can be distracting. Bring at least 4 different clothing options, and other colour options for those looks. More looks the better, so we have a good selection to choose from. Only bring clothing that is a good fit, and that you are happy and confident wearing. Iron your selection and hang them on hangers to transport to the studio to avoid creasing.

Jewellery should be kept to a minimum. Stud type earrings are best. Distracting hooped or dangly earrings should ideally be removed. Necklaces are not advised. Nothing to distract the viewer from  being captivated by your image. You only have one chance to impress. The connection should be instant and its you that they want them to remember.

HAIR AND MAKE-UP

WOMEN

Hair should be ready to shoot in the style that you would like to present yourself. We can shoot a couple of different styles as the session progresses.

Make-up is best kept subtle. It’s best to start off with a natural look and add as we go to achieve different looks. It’s also best to avoid any face powders that have a sheen to them, a matt finish is preferred.

If you would like to have a Hair and Makeup Professional attend there would be an additional fee to cover their time.

MEN

I don’t advise men using any make-up at all. All chosen images will be retouched, so blemishes can be removed.

Hair should be trimmed (by a barber or hair stylist a few days before) and ready to shoot in the style that you would like to present yourself. If you have facial hair it looks best if it is groomed so please be ready for your session.

If you would like to have a Hair Styling Professional attend the session, an additional fee would be required to cover their time.
